The poster boy of Colombian golf Camilo Villegas is looking forward to making his debut in the Volvo World Match Play Championship and to renewing his and rivalry with his Spanish friend Sergio García.
Having flown straight into Spain from his home in Columbia, South American star Camilo Villegas is ready to fight his way through a tough group with high hopes of a high finish in the Volvo World Match Play Championship this week.
Playing in the Assar Gabrielsson Group alongside Lee Westwood, Ross Fisher and Jeev Milkha Singh, the number seven seed says, “It’s great to be here in Spain, beautiful hotel, everything perfect for us and I hear it is a good golf course for match play.”
Adds the man who won two of the four FedEx Play-off events on the PGA Tour last year, “I haven’t seen my friend Sergio García for some weeks so it will be nice to catch-up with his in his home country.
“I enjoy match play and was pleased to qualify as the leading South American player on the Official World Golf Ranking,” he added before his first practice round on the Finca Cortesín.
